Senator Andy Vidak (R-Hanford) announced Monday that Benjamin Granholm has been named Acting Legislative Director, effective immediately. Legislative Director Lyndsay Mitchell is currently out on maternity leave and will return in early 2018.
“Ben has been an extremely valuable member of our staff since he joined us in 2016,” Vidak said. “His knowledge of the legislative process and his understanding of the issues that are important to the Central Valley make him someone I’m proud to have on our team. During Lyndsay’s absence, Ben will do a great job as our Legislative Director and I am grateful for his willingness to take on this new role.”
Granholm has a wealth of experience in the Capitol. For the past year, he has served as Team Vidak’s Senate Fellow. As a Fellow, his duties included researching and tracking Senator Vidak’s bills throughout the legislative process. Granholm is also the lead contact for Senator Vidak on bills in the Education Committee as well as a variety of issue areas including agriculture, public safety, human services and transportation. In addition to his legislative duties, Granholm also served as Senator Vidak’s Acting Communications Director from March until September.
Granholm holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Education with an emphasis in Agriculture Business from California State University, Fresno.
