Porterville Unified School District (PUSD) was awarded a President’s Award at the National Academy Foundation’s (NAF) national convention in Orlando, Fla. According to the NAF, PUSD “exemplified significant strategic commitment and investment to NAF academies and the pathways model, a high degree of commitment to student-enrollment goals, strong demonstration of quality and fidelity to the NAF design and outstanding leadership capacity within the network.” PUSD currently has four of the five NAF Distinguished Academies in California: the Academies of Engineering and of Performing Arts at Harmony Magnet Academy and the Porterville Academies of Business and Finance and of Health Sciences at Porterville High School. It is the highest form of recognition by NAF and PUSD was one of two districts to receive the honor. In recognition of this honor, Team Vidak District Representative Rogelio Caudillo (left) presented PUSD Superintendent Dr. Ken Gibbs, Ed.D (right) with a Senate Certificate.
