The Pixley Calgren plant produces 55 million gallons of ethanol, 400,000 tons of WDGS (Wet Distillers Grains with Solubles) and 1.5 million gallons of corn oil each year. Every 21 gallons of ethanol produced by Calgren could displace a barrel of imported oil. Their plant is one of the most efficient operations and lowest carbon footprint facilities in the country. The plant is powered by an ultra-low NOx gas turbine generator capable of producing 5,800 KW of electricity, the exhaust of which makes process steam. Team Vidak District Representative Rogelio Caudillo met with Calgren management and took a tour to learn more about the plant and how they work with the local community.
